When we started thinking about how people could support Bicicletas Sin Fronteras, the idea of creating a membership for the cycling community appeared quite quickly.
The obvious solution would have been a membership card. But that felt unnecessary. Another plastic object with little meaning.
Looking closer at the project we realised that something already existed. Every Baobike used by students in Senegal carries a small metal license plate. The plate helps identify each bicycle and track it over time.
That object became the idea.
Instead of receiving a membership card, every supporter receives a real Baobike license plate. The same type of plate that is placed on the bicycles used by students.
In a small symbolic way, each member becomes part of a bicycle helping a child reach school.
Sometimes the most meaningful solutions are already inside the project. You just have to notice them.
